Beyond the Ledgers is a division of Network Control Systems, Inc. NCS is a software development company, in business since 1994, that specializes in the application of Microsoft programs, particularly Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access, to problems and situations for which they were not necessarily intended.

The president of NCS is Conrad Carlberg. He earned a PhD in statistics from the University of Colorado, and some years later began to use Excel for multivariate statistical analysis. He received several annual Excel MVP (Most Valuable Professional) awards from Microsoft, in recognition of the quality of the assistance he provided in the Microsoft-sponsored user forums.
